Someone injured or at risk? Ring 112 before us. Call us once everyone is out of harm’s way.
Meath has hundreds of kilometres of narrow roads with no hard shoulder, just a grass verge and a drain. It takes very little for a car to slide off: a patch of mud, a moment of glare, a van coming the other way. These are some of the most common jobs we see in the county.

What to do first
- Injuries, a rolled car, smoke or a fuel smell: ring 112 and wait
- Do not try to drive it out: spinning the wheels digs it in and can damage the car
- Hazard lights on, and stand well away from the road, behind the car
- If the car sticks out into the road, warn traffic only if you can do it safely
What to tell us
Where you are (townland, village, road and a landmark), how the car is lying, whether it still starts, whether anything is leaking, and where you want it to go once it is out.

How we get it out
The truck stops on the road behind or beside the car, the line goes on, and the car is drawn back onto the tarmac slowly, the way it went in. Once it is on four wheels we check that it rolls and steers, then load it and strap it down.

The price
A call-out from €150, then €2 a kilometre to the destination. A car that is a long way into a ditch can take more work, so describe it honestly and we will tell you on the call if that changes anything, before you agree.
After a ditch
Even if the car looks fine, have a garage check the steering, the tyres and the underside before you drive it far. We can take it straight there.

Asked about this job
Should I try to drive it out?
No. Spinning the wheels usually digs the car in further and can damage it. Leave it where it is and ring us.
Does it cost more than a normal tow?
It starts the same: a call-out from €150 and €2 a kilometre. If the car is badly stuck we will tell you on the call if that changes anything, before you agree.
The car seems fine once it is out. Can I drive it home?
Only if you are confident nothing is damaged. A knock into a drain can bend steering parts, so many people have it taken to a garage to be checked.
