Trim is one of the old towns of Meath, built around its castle and the bridges over the Boyne. The streets in the centre are tight, the car parks fill up when visitors come to see the castle, and every road leaving the town turns rural within minutes: hedges, bends, the odd tractor and hardly a street light. A breakdown around Trim can mean a car on a town street or a car on a lane well away from the nearest house. We deal with both in the same way.
Is anyone in danger?
If someone is hurt, if there is smoke, or if the car has stopped where other drivers cannot see it in time, ring 112 first. Once everybody is safe, ring us on 085 783 9202.
Where in Trim are you?
The more we know about the spot, the easier you are to reach:
- In town: the street, the car park, or the nearest shop, church or school
- On the way out: which road you took (towards Navan, Summerhill, Athboy or Dunshaughlin) and roughly how far you got
- Out in the country: the townland, a farm entrance, a house name on a gate, or the last crossroads
- The Eircode of a house close by, if you can see one on a letter or find it on the Eircode finder
Sharing your location from the map app on your phone beats all of these, if you have signal.

What we need to know about the car
The make, the model and the reg. Whether it starts, whether it rolls, and whether the steering and handbrake work. If it is a van, a jeep or a pick-up with a load in the back, say so: the weight changes how it goes onto the deck. Our page on van and jeep recovery explains more.
Cars off the road near Trim
Lots of the roads around Trim have a drain right beside the tarmac and no hard shoulder at all. In autumn and winter, mud carried out of the fields and wet leaves on the bends make them slippy. If the car has slid onto the verge or into a ditch, do not try to drive it out, because spinning wheels only dig in. Leave it, stay back from the road and ring. How we get a car out is on our ditch and verge recovery page.
How the price works
A tow with us is a call-out from €150, then €2 for every kilometre to where the car is going, so the destination is what moves the figure most. A car taken from a Trim street to a garage in the town is mostly the call-out. A car going from Trim to a dealer in Navan or in Dublin adds the kilometres. You hear the total during the call, and the truck only leaves once you say yes. The prices page has the detail.

Drop-off in Trim or further away
Your home, a mechanic in Trim, a main dealer, or any other address you choose. If the garage is closed when we get there, or you cannot stay with the car, tell us when you ring and we will agree where the car and the keys are left.
Not from around here?
If you are visiting Trim and do not know the roads, that is no problem. Read us the name of the street or car park, or the name over the nearest shop, and we will work out the rest from there.
While you wait
Hazard lights on. After dark, wait in a gateway or behind a wall, back from the road, rather than beside the car. Take bags and valuables out, and keep the phone charged in case the driver rings you for directions.
